The baby was left in a crudely woven basket with a coarse fabric blanket with no note. She was unusually tiny, and stared up at the world with big wide eyes. She did not cry. The orphanage was crowded and low on funds, but the woman who owned it was kind and Josephine grew up feeling as though she had a large extended family of caretakers and fellow children. As she grew, she helped with the smaller children. She always seemed to be able to calm their fears, and when they were injured she doctored up their wounds. Josephine wanted to be a nurse when she grew up to help those in need. She studied hard, and worked harder - and now she is working at a hospital tending to the wounded. Patients seem to like her calm, soothing demeanor. When not nursing, Josephine likes to tend her garden. Even in winter when the outdoor garden lies dormant, her houseplants thrive. She also enjoys reading and embroidery, and leading a quiet life in the midst of all this chaos around her. She has no desire to fight. She has a calm demeanor, and doesn't involve herself in politics when she can help it.
